Depuis une vingtaine d’années, l’Education Nationale cherche des solutions pour les inclure dans notre système scolaire. Depuis une vingtaine d’années, nous avons vraiment conscience qu’ils existent et qu’ils sont en situation d’échec scolaire. Ils ? Les doués, les surdoués, les enfants précoces, les enfants à haut potentiel. La façon de les appeler change avec le temps. Les mots « doué » et « surdoué » apportent une connotation péjorative tandis que «enfant précoce» implique une avance rattrapable par les autres enfants. Mais, qui sont-ils réellement ? Pourquoi sont-ils différents ? Paradoxalement, nous savons aujourd’hui qu’un tiers des enfants à haut potentiel est en échec scolaire. Nous essaierons d’apporter des réponses et des pistes de réflexion afin que chaque enseignant puisse enrayer l’échec scolaire chez les enfants à haut potentiel.
For some twenty years, the Department of Education seeks solutions to include "them" in our school system. For some twenty years, we are aware of their existence and of the fact that they are in an underperforming situation at school. "They" ? The talented, the exceptional children, the precocious children, the gifted children. As time went by, the way of calling "them" has changed. The words “talented” and “exceptional” bring a pejorative connotation while “precocious children” implies a lead that could be rejoined by the other children. Who are they really ? Why are they different ? Paradoxically, we know that today, third of gifted children are underperforming at school. Here, we will try to bring answers to how it is possible for teachers to make a difference in these children's education and give them ideas on how to do it so underperformance can be prevented.
