Les festivals de films apparaissent après la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Depuis les années 1980, ils se multiplient et se diversifient. La recherche sur les festivals de films s’est formalisée avec la création des Film Festival Studies. Le champ de recherche commence à s’intéresser aux archives de ces festivals soulignant l’importance de les préserver. Une étude de cas a été menée sur les archives de cinq festivals de films dans la région des Pays de la Loire : CinéPride, Festimaj, Univerciné allemand, Univerciné italien et le festival des 3 continents. À travers des entretiens, un questionnaire, des visites de locaux, l’étude de sites Internet et de réseaux sociaux, il s’agit de comprendre comment les organisateurs de festivals de films et les festivaliers conservent leurs archives et pour quels usages.
Film festivals emerged after the Second World War. Since the 1980s, they have multiplied and diversified. Research on film festivals was formalized with the creation of Film Festival Studies. The field of research is beginning to focus on the archives of these festivals, highlighting the importance of preserving them. A case study was conducted on the archives of five film festivals in the Pays de la Loire region: CinéPride, Festimaj, Univerciné allemand, Univerciné italien, and the Festival des 3 Continents. Through interviews, a questionnaire, site visits, and the study of websites and social networks, the aim is to understand how film festival organizers and festival-goers preserve their archives and for what purposes.
