Résumé | Utilisées depuis la nuit des temps à des fins thérapeutiques, magico-religieuses, spirituelles ou initiatiques, les substances naturelles hallucinogènes connaissent depuis le début des années 1990 un véritable regain d’intérêt. |
Résumé en anglais | Used since time immemorial for therapeutic, magical-religious, spiritual or initiatory purposes, hallucinogenic natural substances have experienced a real revival of interest since the early 1990s. This work thus resituates their diffusion to the French population with some epidemiological data before describing the main plants and hallucinogenic fungi consumed. It is indeed necessary, particularly for the health professional, to know the substances concerned as well as the mechanism of action of their main active molecules, their effects and the risks involved. The different consumption contexts and the motivations associated with the use of these products are also studied before discussing the role that pharmacists can play in preventing the risks inherent in their use. Hallucinogenic plants and fungi are currently used mainly either for recreational purposes for experimentation or during events related to techno music (mushrooms, wild roses, ipomées, peyote and datura), or as part of neochamanic ceremonies for mystical or psychotherapeutic purposes (ayahuasca, divinatory sage). However, despite their availability, which is facilitated by their marketing on websites, these substances, the use of which is almost all prohibited by law, present real physical and psychological risks, particularly psychiatric decompensation. The pharmacist therefore has an important role to play in preventing and informing people about the consumption of these natural hallucinogenic substances. |
