Résumé en anglais | General practitioners regularly faces occupational health issues and share a close connection with health insurance funds. However, no legal text compels universities to organize trainings on occupational medicine and social security during the course of general practice post-graduate diplomas (DES). The purpose of this thesis is to describe the training on occupational medicine and social security undergone by medicine interns during their level 1 general practice internship and to explore their learning in both those areas while evaluating how comfortable and skilled they feel to apply this knowledge. A descriptive, self-questioning, quantitative survey was conducted amongst 127 general practitioner residents of the Medical Faculty of Angers whilst they were finishing their level 1 internship over two semesters between November 2016 and October 2017. Less than half of the residents accessed medical consultations with occupational health doctors, and only 3% of interns were able to participate in consultations with a medical advisor during their formation. Most residents do not consider themselves comfortable with occupational health concepts or with identifying situations that require contacting a medical advisor. Medicine residents ask for trainings or consultations with both those services to be part of their formation in order to improve their knowledge and skills. There are significant differences within residents’ formations which should be addressed in order to allow them to develop the required skills they will need to fulfill their future mission as general practitioner. |
