| Résumé | Du fait de sa constitution en partie dans la clandestinité, l’état civil protestant est source de grandes difficultés pour le généalogiste débutant qui doit travailler avec des archives éparpillées lorsque celles-ci existent afin de pouvoir compléter leurs arbres généalogiques au-delà de la Révolution Française. De ce constat est né l’idée que le généalogiste protestant devait obligatoirement étudier l’histoire du protestantisme en France pour comprendre les particularités des archives protestantes et la multitude de pistes qu’il va devoir étudier pour trouver des traces de ces ancêtres. Cet apprentissage historique pouvait mener à la production de travaux historiques sur le protestantisme notamment sur support numérique. Si la quête identitaire et la production d’histoire chez les généalogistes a fait l’objet de nombreux articles et ouvrages ces 30 dernières années. Il était intéressant d’étudier ces thématiques à travers le prisme des généalogistes ayant une ascendance protestante pour comprendre si la découverte (ou non) d’ancêtres protestants, participait à la formation de l’identité des généalogistes qui s’appropriaient les valeurs du protestantisme, mais aussi si ces recherches historiques amenaient à la production de travaux historiques et pour quelles raisons. |
| Résumé en anglais | As a result of its constitution that is partly clandestine, the Protestant civil registration causes many difficulties for the beginners in genealogy. When creating their family tree beyond the French Revolution, they must work with sparse archives, if they exists. From this, rose the idea that the Protestant genealogist had to study the Protestant history in France in order to understand the features of the Protestant archives and the many leads he must learn to find traces of his ancestors. This historical learning could lead to the production of historical works on Protestant and among other to digital support. The identity quest and the historical production of genealogists has been used in many articles and books over the last 30 years. It's interesting to study these themes through the prism of genealogists that have a Protestant ancestry in order to understand if the discovery (or non discovery) of Protestant ancestors would play a role into the identity creation process of genealogist that appropriated the Protestant values. And if these historical researches would lead to the production of historical work and for which reasons. |
