Résumé

Le but de ce travail de recherche est d'étudier la façon dont les Etats Unis ont mené leurs récentes opérations militaires en Iraq et en Afghanistan. Seront tout particulièrement abordées les répercussions sur les populations civiles et la communautés internationales, ainsi que les stratégies considérées pour gérer un conflit de type asymétrique. Ce travail tentera de montrer à quel point ce type d'engagement peut affaiblir une cause et un objectif, que ce soit dans le pays d'origine (en l'occurrence les USA) à l'étranger et sur le théâtre d'opération. Pour ce faire, ce travail de recherche se concentrera sur les opérations menées par les Etats Unis en Iraq et en Afghanistan, ainsi que sur les controverses et problématiques qui en ont découlé.

The purpose of this work is to study how the United States conducted their military operations in Iraq and in Afghanistan, the repercussions they had on the local population and the international community as well as the possible strategies put in place in order for a regular force to deal with irregular warfare. It will try to show and explain how such a type of warfare can easily undermine a cause at home, abroad and on the theater of operation. To do so the study will focus on the actions and operations ran by the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the subsequently raised controversies and issues.
