Ce mémoire de recherche en psychologie clinique explore le lien entre obésité, traumatisme et demande de chirurgie bariatrique à travers l’étude clinique du cas de Madame H, une femme de 35 ans, rencontrée au sein d’un service d’hospitalisation à temps partiel de l’obésité, dont l’histoire est marquée par des violences sexuelles intrafamiliales, un rejet maternel et de profondes carences affectives. L’obésité est analysée comme un symptôme protecteur, une manière d’inscrire dans le corps une histoire traumatique non symbolisable. La chirurgie bariatrique apparaît alors comme une tentative de réappropriation du corps et d’accès à une nouvelle subjectivité. Ainsi, cette recherche tend à rendre compte de l'importance d’une lecture psychique du symptôme corporel.
This research dissertation in clinical psychology explores the link between obesity, trauma and the request for bariatric surgery, through the clinical study of the case of Mrs. H, a 35-year-old woman seen in a part-time obesity hospitalization unit, whose history is marked by intrafamilial sexual violence, maternal rejection and profound emotional deficiencies. Obesity is analyzed as a protective symptom, a way of inscribing in the body a traumatic history that cannot be symbolized. Bariatric surgery then appears as an attempt to reappropriate the body and gain access to a new subjectivity. In this way, our research highlights the importance of a psychic reading of bodily symptoms.
