| Résumé | Alors que la Seconde Guerre mondiale bat son plein, le Royaume-Uni fait face à l'Allemagne nazie au côté des alliés. Au front et à l'arrière-pays, les citoyens britanniques font leur maximum pour soutenir leur pays et reporter cette guerre. Parmi ces citoyens, des catholiques, minoritaires dans le pays, jouent également leur rôle. Les querelles théologiques entre les catholiques et les protestants ont fortement impacté l'histoire de ce pays. La guerre entre les états d'Europe et du monde, les différentes idéologies raciales, et la place particulière du Vatican pendant ce conflit présentent un contexte complexe et intéressant à analyser. Les catholiques britanniques, ont-ils été acceptées au sein de l'armée, rejetées par le gouvernement, accueillit, discriminé...? Comment les catholiques britanniques ont-ils vécu la Seconde Guerre mondiale ? |
| Résumé en anglais | With the Second World War in full swing, the United Kingdom faced Nazi Germany on the side of the Allies. At the front and in the home front, British citizens did their utmost to support their country and postpone the war. Catholics, a minority in the country, also played their part. The theological quarrels between Catholics and Protestants had a major impact on the country's history. The war between the states of Europe and the world, the different racial ideologies, and the particular place of the Vatican during this conflict present a complex and interesting context to analyse. Were British Catholics accepted into the army, rejected by the government, welcomed, discriminated against...? How did British Catholics experience the Second World War? |
