Stage technicien étude de temps : Serap industries

My internship took place inside one of the workshops of the SerapCompany(in Gorron -53), which is producing tailor-made and top range wine tanks, aiming the greatest and most prestigious wineries all over the world.Due to recent losses of money because of mistakes that have been made in some quotations, and following recentobservations made by the managers of the workshop, the main goal of my internship was to reduce the wastes of time due to useless operations, such as handling, overstocking, too much research for tools and pieces and waiting for pallet trucks, hoists or lifting platforms, oruseless moves of the workers.The first thing I did was revising the manufacturing process of wine tanks, in order to know allthe necessary steps to get tothe finished product.The second step of my training was to time allthese operations and to allocate the global time into different categories (added value, handling, measurement, research for tools, cleaning...). The final goal was to gather all these times in order to know the global repartition of all the different categories, and especially to identify the main cause of time waste. Diplomacyand communication with the workerswere the key wordsto properly perform this task.It appeared that the main concern was all the handling operations which great parts of the global manufacturing time of onewine tank are.The third step of my internship was to gather all the observations that I have been making about the different operations during the timing process, and to identify common problems of several manufacturing steps, which are easy to solve and allows forthe savings of a lot of time. I managed to select the most important problems and in collaboration with the man in charge of the continuous improvements in the factoryand the workers, we started to find solutions for these issues. In fact, it wasvery important to include the workforce in thisprocess, because they are the first to be concernedand they are the only onesto fullyknowtheir workplace.This workis going to be continued after the end of my internship, and I am going to be partof it, as an employee of the company.
