Introduction : infertility af fects approximately one in six people worldwide . Recourse to Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) exposes women to a higher prevalence of anxiety and depressive disorders. However, psychological support remains of fered but not mandatory. This study aimed to explore the experiences of women undergoing ART, to identify their psychological support needs, and to understand the factors that facilitate or hinder access to mental health care.

Materials and Methods : a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews conducted with ten patients who had undergone intra-couple ART at Angers University Hospital. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, anonymised, and analysed using a thematic approach.

Results : the ART pathway constitutes an intrusive experience on physical, emotional, sexual, and social levels. Several participants described significant isolation, fatigue, and withdrawal, leading in some cases to the onset of a depressive state. Seven out of ten participants sought psychological support, most of ten on their own initiative. The majority of participants proposed the systematic integration of psychological support f rom the very start of the pathway.

Discussion : these findings confirm existing literature while highlighting the need to rethink the integration of psychological support within ART pathways. A systematic of fer of support f rom the outset, combined with a person-centred care relationship, would constitute an appropriate response to the psychological vulnerability of these patients.
